Regardless of which Grand Solmar Vacation Club resort you vacation at, one of the benefits members and their guests enjoy, is the full kitchens within their suites. The kitchens are fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, stovetops, refrigerators, and they have everything needed to prepare a great meal within your suite. There are services that can deliver groceries to your suite prior to arrival, so you can have the main staples and items you need waiting for you. Or you can stock up yourself once you arrive. But where is the best place to go? Cabo has grown tremendously over the past decade, and the days of having one grocery store as a choice, are long gone. There are many options available, some close by, others a quick drive away. So which one should you go to? Well, a lot of where you can stock up, is based on where you are staying and also personal preferences.
If you are looking for familiarity and to find brands you like, Costco and Wal-Mart are located on the corridor close to Cabo and are just like being in a store in the US or Canada. Here you can stock up on everything you will need for your vacation, Wal-Mart also has a fairly large bakery section with some nice pastries to choose from.
Both of the above options are not really walk able from Playa Grande or Grand Solmar @ Lands End, so you would need to plan for a taxi, Uber or rental car. Other options on the Northern part of town are also a tad closer, and are much closer for those staying at Rancho San Lucas.
The options on the north part of town are Chedraui, La Comer, Soriana and La Ley Express.
La Comer has the most organic, imported and largest bakery of the options in this part of town. Soriana is the largest store by far, and many of the household items are much cheaper here as they have their own brand of products, this store is popular for locals. Chedraui is also an option similar to La Comer, in San Jose, Chedraui Selecto is a much larger option and has many gourmet foods available and more imported products, it is a higher-end super market. La Comer also has their higher-end version called La Comer Fresko, where they offer fresh produce and products.
If you are staying at Rancho San Lucas, and forgot tortillas, milk, eggs or chips, La Ley Express is the closest option located just a few minutes up the highway. A full supermarket at Ley is available for shopping, however, the vegetables, dairy section, and butcher counter are quite limited, but it has more than the basics needed as well as a pharmacy.
Enjoy your time in Los Cabos and making stocking up a fun part of your trip and enjoy some amazing meals, or simple snacks in your suites in paradise!
